WoW Forever Retribution Paladin Build

A two-handed Retribution build for the level 30 cap, rebuilt on the reworked tree: Benediction and Sanctified Judgement for mana, Seal of Command for damage, and Vengeance as point 21.

0 / 0 / 21Level 30 · 21 pointsUpdated 31 October 2026 · Beta 1.60.1, hotfixes to 30 Oct

The talent trees still change between beta builds. We re-check this build on launch day (4 November 2026).

Talent descriptions come from the game client files (build 1.60.1.70707). Some talent values are applied by the game server and can differ in game; ranks marked as Classic Era data are not in the Forever client yet. The trees include the beta's server hotfixes (as of 2026-10-30) from the talentsforever.com data export (CC BY 4.0); icons and names come from the game files.

Talent order by level

  1. 10–14Benediction×5
  2. 15–17Conviction×3
  3. 18–19Improved Judgement×2
  4. 20Seal of Command
  5. 21–23Sanctified Judgement×3
  6. 24Pursuit of Justice
  7. 25Sacred Arbiter
  8. 26–28Two-Handed Weapon Specialization×3
  9. 29Pursuit of Justice
  10. 30Vengeance

Alternatives

  • With the Talented Legacy perk (+5 points): Vengeance to 3/3, then Deflection x3 for parry. Repentance is an option for PvP or Humanoid-heavy zones.
  • Rebuilt for the 30 Oct hotfix: Holy Conduit moved to the Holy tree and Conviction dropped to 3 ranks (now 6% crit), so those 4 points went into Improved Judgement and Two-Handed Weapon Specialization.
  • Deflection x5 instead of Benediction trades mana for parry; one well-known guide takes it, most others take Benediction.
  • Leave Vengeance at 2/3 with Talented if you want to reach Champion of the Light later; it only pays off with a lot of Intellect.

Rotation & priority

  1. Seal of the Crusader before the pull in groups, judge it, then keep Seal of Command up.
  2. Judgement on cooldown; it does not use the global cooldown or consume your Seal.
  3. Holy Strike on cooldown to refresh your Judgements.
  4. Consecration on two or more targets.
  5. Hammer of Wrath on targets below 20% health.
  6. Exorcism on Undead and Demons.

Stat priority

  1. Weapon damage: a slow two-hander (3.2 speed or more) for Seal of Command
  2. Strength (Attack Power)
  3. Hit
  4. Crit, which feeds Vengeance
  5. Stamina and Intellect for fewer breaks while leveling

How the build works

This Retribution Paladin build follows the tree after the 30 Oct hotfix. The idea is unchanged from the guides written before it: stay mana-positive, hit hard with Seal of Command, and keep Judgement and Holy Strike rolling.

Mana comes from two talents. Benediction cuts the cost of all instant spells and abilities by 10%. Sanctified Judgement at 3/3 returns 60% of the judged Seal’s mana every time. Since Judgement no longer consumes your Seal, you can judge on every cooldown, and Improved Judgement takes 2 sec off it.

Damage comes from Seal of Command (extra Holy damage equal to 70% of weapon damage), Conviction (+6% crit with all spells and attacks), and Two-Handed Weapon Specialization (+6% physical damage, and 20% less threat). Sacred Arbiter adds 20% to Holy Strike and makes it refresh your Judgements on the target. Vengeance, the 21st point, gives +1% Physical and Holy damage for 30 sec after a crit, stacking three times.

Leveling tips

Benediction and Conviction cover levels 10 to 17. Improved Judgement opens row 3 so Seal of Command arrives at level 20, which is when you should be swinging a slow two-hander. Before that, or with a fast weapon, use Seal of Righteousness. Pursuit of Justice adds 15% movement speed at 2/2, which helps a lot before you have a mount.

On a dangerous mob, stun it with Hammer of Justice and then judge Seal of Command; that Judgement deals roughly double damage against stunned targets. Use Consecration on packs once you learn it at 20.

Changes in WoW Forever

Retribution was reshaped twice before launch. The 30 Oct hotfix moved Holy Conduit into Holy, cut Conviction to 3 ranks but made it cover all spells and attacks, gave Champion of the Light 5 ranks, and changed Two-Handed Weapon Specialization to boost all physical damage. Turn Evil is new, Instrument of Law is gone, and Twist of Light became Unsealed Wrath, a row 7 talent that stores copies of your Seal on each swing. These Paladin talents are new enough that few players have tested them in practice.

Toward level 60

Provisional, and low confidence: all published level 60 builds predate the hotfix. The general direction is to finish Retribution with Champion of the Light and Unsealed Wrath, then put spare points into Holy for Divine Strength and Improved Seals.

FAQ

What is the best Retribution Paladin build in WoW Forever?

At level 30: Benediction, Conviction, Improved Judgement, Seal of Command, Sanctified Judgement, Pursuit of Justice, Sacred Arbiter and Two-Handed Weapon Specialization, ending on Vengeance. All 21 points are in Retribution.

Is Retribution good for leveling?

Yes. Most guides recommend Retribution points for the first 20 to 30 levels even if you plan to tank or heal later.

What stats does a Retribution Paladin need?

A slow two-hander first, then Strength, hit and crit. Stamina and Intellect make leveling smoother.

What does the Talented Legacy perk change?

It gives you up to 5 extra points at level 30. Retribution players finish Vengeance and put the rest into Deflection or Repentance.
