Entrance

Dire Maul is the ruined city of Eldre'Thalas in central Feralas. Horde groups fly to Camp Mojache right next to the ruins; Alliance groups come from Feathermoon Stronghold. The North wing (Gordok Commons) is reached from the central courtyard; ogres guard the gates, which open with the Crescent Key or the Gordok keys.

Overview

Gordok Commons belongs to the Gordok ogres, who moved into the ruins of Eldre’Thalas and built a little kingdom of their own. King Gordok sits on his throne at the far end, with his mage Cho’Rush the Observer at his side and a string of guards between you and him.

The wing is best known for its tribute run. By the ogres’ law, whoever kills the king becomes king, and the new ruler collects a tribute that gets richer the more guards were spared on the way in. Sneaking past them takes some planning, a rogue or two and often an ogre disguise.

  1. 1

    Guard Mol'dar

First of the ogre guards. Leave him alive for a better tribute — or kill him if you just want his loot. Hits hard and knocks back.

  2. 2

    Stomper Kreeg

Drunken ogre who sells booze if you wear the ogre suit or become king. Whirlwind and War Stomp if you fight him.

    Notable loot
    • Kreeg's Mug
  3. 3

    Guard Fengus

Ogre guard in the courtyard. Like the other guards, sparing him improves the tribute chest.

  4. 4

    Guard Slip'kik

Ogre guard in a corridor. Can be bypassed with a freezing trap trick, keeping him alive for the tribute.

  5. 5

    Captain Kromcrush

Ogre captain in the hall before the throne. Calls for help and casts Intimidating Shout; alive, he becomes your quest-giver once Gordok falls.

    Notable loot
    • Kromcrush's Chestplate
  6. 6

    Cho'Rush the Observer

Ogre mage beside King Gordok who joins that fight. Casts fire and frost spells — interrupt or crowd-control him. If Gordok dies first, Cho'Rush yields and names you the new king.

    Notable loot
    • Cho'Rush's Blade
  7. 7

    King Gordok

King of the Gordok ogres. Mortal Strike, War Stomp and Sunder Armor on the tank. Defeating him makes you king and spawns the tribute chest, which grows with every guard left alive.
