Entrance

The main entrance is in western Dun Morogh, past the gnome camp outside the city. Alliance players ride over from Ironforge; Horde players face a long trek through Alliance territory, typically via the Wetlands and Loch Modan.

Overview

When troggs erupted from beneath Dun Morogh, the gnomes of Gnomeregan were desperate. On the advice of Mekgineer Sicco Thermaplugg, High Tinker Mekkatorque flooded the city with radiation to purge the invaders - and it killed or mutated many of his own people. Thermaplugg, who planned it all along, stayed behind to rule the ruins. The surviving gnomes fled to Ironforge.

The dungeon is a huge maze of tunnels, machine halls and irradiated caverns. It is popular with Alliance players because of the many Ironforge and Stormwind quests, while Horde groups usually only visit for a couple of quests and the experience.

Route

From the entrance, the tunnels run past Techbot and Viscous Fallout down into the trogg-infested caves. After the Clean Zone area the path climbs into the main city - Electrocutioner 6000 guards one section, Crowd Pummeler 9-60 another. Thermaplugg sits at the end in his control room. The punch card terminals for Data Rescue are spread out along the way, so check them off as you go.

  1. 1

    Viscous Fallout

A radioactive ooze in the early tunnels. It pulses nature damage, so nature resistance or extra healing helps. Optional.

    Notable loot
    • Toxic Revenger
  2. 2

    Electrocutioner 6000

A security robot that zaps players with chain lightning-style attacks. Stand spread and heal through the burst.

    • Electrocutioner Leg
    • Electrocutioner Lagnut
    • Workshop Key
  3. 3

    Crowd Pummeler 9-60

    Notable loot
    • Manual Crowd Pummeler
    • Gnomebot Operating Boots
  4. 4

    Mekgineer Thermaplugg

The traitor himself, in his control room. Machines in the walls release walking bombs during the fight - have someone use the wall buttons to shut them off and kill any bomb that gets out.

    Notable loot
    • Thermaplugg's Central Core
    • Thermaplugg's Left Arm

  • Gnomeregan is long and easy to get lost in; budget around 2 hours for a full clear.
  • Leper gnome packs and dark iron agents come in large groups - AoE classes shine here.
  • Grab the Alliance quests in Ironforge's Tinker Town before going in; many are handed out next to each other.
  • A Workshop Key lets you use the back entrance into the Workshop and skip a long walk.
