WoW Forever Arcane Mage Build

A 21-point Arcane build that stacks Arcane Blast, cashes the stacks in with Arcane Wrath and leans on Clearcasting and Missile Barrage procs to keep mana under control.

21 / 0 / 0Level 30 · 21 pointsUpdated 31 October 2026 · Beta 1.60.1, hotfixes to 30 Oct

The talent trees still change between beta builds. We re-check this build on launch day (4 November 2026).

Talent descriptions come from the game client files (build 1.60.1.70707). Some talent values are applied by the game server and can differ in game; ranks marked as Classic Era data are not in the Forever client yet. The trees include the beta's server hotfixes (as of 2026-10-30) from the talentsforever.com data export (CC BY 4.0); icons and names come from the game files.

Talent order by level

  1. 10–14Improved Channeling×5
  2. 15–19Arcane Concentration×5
  3. 20Arcane Blast
  4. 21–22Missile Barrage×2
  5. 23–24Arcane Impact×2
  6. 25Arcane Wrath
  7. 26–28Arcane Meditation×3
  8. 29Arcane Impact
  9. 30Arcane Mind

Alternatives

  • Solo single-target: drop Arcane Impact and put those points toward Arcane Mind; with Talented you can reach deeper into the tree sooner.
  • Dungeons: Arcane Subtlety 2 cuts Arcane threat by 30%, which matters when you spam Arcane Explosion on packs.
  • 21st point: Presence of Mind instead of Arcane Mind if you want an instant emergency cast (it is also the prerequisite for Arcane Power later).
  • Older guides move points into Arcane Focus or take Improved Fireball and Elemental Precision; all three were removed or renamed on 28 Oct (now Accelerant in Fire and Precision in Frost).
  • Talented (+5): finish Arcane Mind or take Arcane Geometry 2 for +6 yards of range.

Rotation & priority

  1. Build Arcane Blast stacks; each stack adds 12% of your Intellect as Spell Damage but doubles the next Blast's mana cost.
  2. Cast Arcane Wrath at 3 stacks and again at 4.
  3. Fire Arcane Missiles immediately when Missile Barrage procs: half the channel time, no mana cost.
  4. Spend Clearcasting on Arcane Blast, your most expensive spell.
  5. When Blast is too costly and Arcane Wrath is on cooldown, cast Fireball or Frostbolt to fish for Missile Barrage.
  6. Packs: Arcane Explosion; use Frost Nova to buy room.

Stat priority

  1. Spell Power (Arcane Spell Power counts too)
  2. Intellect (feeds Arcane Blast stacks, Arcane Wrath and your mana pool)
  3. Spell crit
  4. Spell haste
  5. Spirit and Mp5 while leveling

How the build works

This Arcane Mage build is built around one loop. Arcane Blast stacks up to four times; every stack gives you 12% of your Intellect as Spell Damage for 18 seconds and doubles the mana cost of the next Blast. Arcane Wrath is the payoff: it hits for 122 to 146 Arcane damage plus Spell Damage equal to 5% of your maximum mana, and it benefits from the stacks you have built.

Everything else keeps that loop affordable. Arcane Concentration gives every damage spell a 10% chance to make the next one free, and Missile Barrage gives Arcane Blast a 40% chance (20% for Arcane Wrath, Fireball and Frostbolt) to turn your next Arcane Missiles into a free, half-length channel. Improved Channeling makes Arcane Missiles immune to pushback and gives Blast and Wrath a 70% chance to keep their cast time when hit, which matters because you will be taking hits while soloing. Arcane Meditation lets 50% of your mana regeneration continue while casting, and Arcane Impact adds 6% crit to Arcane spells.

Leveling tips

Spend levels 10 to 14 on Improved Channeling and 15 to 19 on Arcane Concentration. Arcane Blast comes at 20, Missile Barrage right after. Arcane Wrath needs 15 points in the tree, so it arrives at level 25; until then, finish targets with Fireball or Frostbolt, which can also proc Missile Barrage.

Do not chain Arcane Blast past what the fight needs. Four stacks cost a lot of mana, and on trash that dies fast you are better off with two stacks and Arcane Wrath. Drink between pulls; Arcane runs out of mana faster than Frost when procs are cold. In dungeons, Arcane Explosion is your pack damage, and Arcane Subtlety is worth considering if you keep pulling threat.

Changes in WoW Forever

Arcane is a different spec from Classic. Arcane Blast, Arcane Wrath and Missile Barrage are all new. The 28 Oct hotfix reshaped the Mage trees: Arcane Focus was removed and Missile Barrage moved to row 2. On 30 Oct Arcane Blast was changed again to its current +100% cost per stack with an 18-second duration. Guides written before these dates may list talents that no longer exist, so check names before copying an older build.

Toward level 60

Provisional. The most planned level 60 build is deep Arcane: Arcane Mind 5, Arcane Instability 3, Presence of Mind and Arcane Power, with about 10 points in Fire for Incineration and Accelerant (which now also speeds up Arcane Wrath) and 3 in Precision for hit. That reflects what players are planning in calculators, not tested results, and the Mage trees have already changed twice this month.

FAQ

What is the best Arcane Mage build in WoW Forever?

At level 30, a 21/0/0 build with Improved Channeling, Arcane Concentration, Arcane Blast, Missile Barrage, Arcane Impact, Arcane Wrath, Arcane Meditation and one point of Arcane Mind. No published 21-point build uses the 28 Oct tree yet, so treat the last few points as flexible.

Is Arcane good for leveling?

Yes for open-world solo play, with a caveat: it depends on procs and mana. Frost is steadier and safer; Arcane kills faster when Clearcasting and Missile Barrage line up.

What stats does an Arcane Mage need?

Spell Power first, then Intellect, which Arcane values more than other Mage specs because Arcane Blast and Arcane Wrath scale with it. Crit and haste follow; Spirit helps while leveling.

What does the Talented Legacy perk change?

Talented gives up to 5 extra talent points by level 30 by starting points earlier. For Arcane, use them to finish Arcane Mind or add Arcane Geometry for range.
