The talent trees still change between beta builds. We re-check this build on launch day (4 November 2026).

Talent descriptions come from the game client files (build 1.60.1.70707). Some talent values are applied by the game server and can differ in game; ranks marked as Classic Era data are not in the Forever client yet. The trees include the beta's server hotfixes (as of 2026-10-30) from the talentsforever.com data export (CC BY 4.0); icons and names come from the game files.

Talent order by level

  1. 10–14Accelerant×5
  2. 15–19Ignite×5
  3. 20Flame Throwing
  4. 21–23Burning Soul×3
  5. 24Pyroblast
  6. 25–27Improved Scorch×3
  7. 28Heating Up
  8. 29–30Master of Elements×2

Alternatives

  • Dungeon AoE: Flame Throwing 2 and Blast Wave (row 5) instead of Master of Elements.
  • Hit-focused single target: skip Blast Wave and one Flame Throwing point for 2 points of Precision in the Frost tree (+4% spell hit).
  • Talented (+5): finish Master of Elements and add Critical Mass (+6% Fire crit at 3 ranks) or Blast Wave.
  • Guides from before 28 Oct call Accelerant 'Improved Fireball' and list Critical Mass at 5 ranks; it is now 3.

Rotation & priority

  1. Pull with Fireball, or pre-cast Pyroblast on a target that will live long enough.
  2. On elites and bosses, Scorch until Improved Scorch reaches 5 stacks (+15% Fire damage taken), then refresh it before the 30-second timer ends.
  3. Fire Blast on cooldown; it adds an extra Heating Up stack every time it deals damage.
  4. Fireball as filler.
  5. Pyroblast at 3 Heating Up stacks (2 is fine if the target still has plenty of health).
  6. Packs: Flamestrike, Blast Wave if talented, then Arcane Explosion; Frost Nova or Cone of Cold to peel.

Stat priority

  1. Spell Power (Fire Spell Power counts too)
  2. Spell crit (drives Ignite, Heating Up and Master of Elements)
  3. Intellect
  4. Spell Hit until capped; hard to find on gear at this level
  5. Spell haste, then Spirit and Mp5 for leveling

How the build works

This Fire Mage build turns crits into more damage in three ways. Ignite makes every Fire crit burn the target for another 40% of that spell’s damage over 4 seconds. Heating Up lets non-periodic crits from Fireball, Fire Blast and Scorch cut the cast time of your next Pyroblast by 25% per stack, up to three stacks within 20 seconds. Master of Elements refunds part of the base mana cost on Fire and Frost crits (20% at two ranks), which keeps a crit-heavy Mage casting longer.

Accelerant takes 0.5 seconds off Fireball, so your filler lands faster and gives you more chances to crit. Improved Scorch makes each Scorch add 3% Fire damage taken, stacking to 15% for 30 seconds, which is worth setting up on anything that lives longer than a few casts. Burning Soul gives Fire spells a 70% chance to keep their cast time when you take damage and reduces Fire threat by 30%. One point of Flame Throwing adds 3 yards of range.

Leveling tips

Put levels 10 to 14 into Accelerant and 15 to 19 into Ignite. Row 3 opens at 20: Burning Soul first, Pyroblast at 24, then Improved Scorch and Heating Up. Fire feels weak early because crit chance is low on leveling gear; Ignite and Heating Up get better as your crit rises.

Do not stack Scorch on normal mobs. Fireball, Fire Blast and a wand finish are cheaper. Remember that Spirit regeneration pauses for five seconds after you spend mana, and wanding does not reset that timer, so a wand finish is a cheap way to save mana. In dungeons, the Blast Wave version gives you a real AoE button.

Changes in WoW Forever

Heating Up is new and changes how Fire plays: Pyroblast becomes a regular quick cast after a run of crits, not just an opener. The 28 Oct hotfix renamed Improved Fireball to Accelerant (it now also speeds up Frostfire Bolt and Arcane Wrath), moved Improved Fire Blast to row 3, raised Incineration to 5 ranks and cut Critical Mass to 3 ranks. Spell hit now comes from Precision in the Frost tree, which covers all schools.

Toward level 60

Provisional. The most planned level 60 Fire build adds Critical Mass 3, Fire Power 3 and full Master of Elements, then spends about 22 points in Frost for Precision, Ice Shards, Shatter and Fingers of Frost. Some older plans take Combustion instead. These are calculator plans from before anyone reached 60, so expect them to move.

FAQ

What is the best Fire Mage build in WoW Forever?

At level 30, a 0/21/0 build with Accelerant 5, Ignite 5, Burning Soul 3, Pyroblast, Improved Scorch 3, Heating Up, one point of Flame Throwing and two of Master of Elements. Several sources agree on the first 16 points; the last few depend on solo or dungeon play.

Is Fire good for leveling?

It works, but it is the least popular Mage leveling spec because it needs crit to come alive. It uses the least mana of the three, and on fast-dying mobs you can skip Scorch stacks entirely.

What stats does a Fire Mage need?

Spell Power first, then crit, because Ignite, Heating Up and Master of Elements all trigger on crits. Intellect comes next; take Spell Hit whenever gear offers it.

Is Fire Mage good in dungeons?

Yes, especially with Blast Wave and Flamestrike for packs. Burning Soul's 30% threat reduction helps you avoid pulling aggro off the tank.
