Entrance

Zul'Gurub sits in the north-east of Stranglethorn Vale; Horde players can fly to Grom'gol, Alliance players to Booty Bay and ride north. The Zandalar Tribe's base on Yojamba Isle, off the west coast, is where you hand in coins, bijous and the Heart of Hakkar. No attunement is required.

Overview

Zul’Gurub was the heart of the Gurubashi Empire. Now the Atal’ai and the Hakkari priests have opened the way for Hakkar the Soulflayer, and the Zandalar Tribe calls on adventurers to stop the blood god before he breaks loose. Each of the high priests channels the power of an animal god — bat, snake, spider, tiger and panther — and has to be defeated first.

It is a 20-player raid, sized between the 10-player dungeons and the 40-player raids, with a fast reset that makes it a regular stop for guilds and smaller groups alike. Its loot is tied to Zandalar reputation: bijous, coins and set tokens are turned in on Yojamba Isle for class-specific sets and enchantments.

Attunement

None. Any group of level 60 players can enter; reputation with the Zandalar Tribe unlocks the rewards.

  1. 1

    High Priestess Jeklik

Bat priestess. In bat form she silences with Sonic Burst and summons bats; at half health she becomes a troll, calls bomb-dropping bats and casts Great Heal — interrupt every heal.

    Notable loot
    • Jeklik's Crusher
    • Jeklik's Opaline Talisman
  2. 2

    High Priest Venoxis

Snake priest guarded by snakes. In troll form he casts Holy Fire, Holy Wrath and Renew (dispel it); at half health he turns into a giant snake that leaves poison clouds — move out of them.

    Notable loot
    • Fang of Venoxis
    • Runed Bloodstained Hauberk
  3. 3

    High Priestess Mar'li

Spider priestess. Spawns spiderlings that grow if left alone, casts Poison Bolt Volley and Drain Life; in spider form she webs the melee and charges. Area damage on the spiders and nature resistance help.

    Notable loot
    • Mar'li's Eye
    • Flowing Ritual Robes
    • Mar'li's Touch
  4. 4

    Bloodlord Mandokir

Rides the raptor Ohgan. When he announces he is watching a player, that player must stop all actions or be charged and killed. He gains levels from kills, Whirlwinds and Cleaves; chained spirits can resurrect fallen players. Rare chance to drop a raptor mount.

    Notable loot
    • Swift Razzashi Raptor
    • Bloodlord's Defender
    • Warblade of the Hakkari
    • Mandokir's Sting
    • Animist's Spaulders
  5. 5

    Edge of Madness

One of four ancient trolls — Gri'lek, Hazza'rah, Renataki or Wushoolay — summoned at the Edge of Madness with Gurubashi Mojo Madness. Which one is available rotates on a schedule.

    Notable loot
    • Gri'lek's Blood
    • Renataki's Tooth
    • Hazza'rah's Dream Thread
    • Wushoolay's Mane
    • Gri'lek's Grinder
    • Renataki's Soul Conduit
  6. 6

    High Priest Thekal

Tiger priest fought together with Zealot Zath and Zealot Lor'khan. All three have to die at nearly the same time or the others resurrect; Thekal then returns in tiger form with a knockback and summons tigers. Rare chance to drop a tiger mount.

    Notable loot
    • Swift Zulian Tiger
    • Thekal's Grasp
  7. 7

    Gahz'ranka

Giant fish-like beast fished up from the pool with a Mudskunk Lure. Massive Geyser throws players into the air and Frost Breath reduces threat on the tank.

    Notable loot
    • Tome of Polymorph: Turtle
  8. 8

    High Priestess Arlokk

Panther priestess. She vanishes and reappears, and marks a player so that panthers attack them. Keep the panthers off the healers with area damage and off-tanks.

    Notable loot
    • Arlokk's Grasp
    • Arlokk's Hoodoo Stick
  9. 9

    Jin'do the Hexxer

Witch doctor. Kill his Powerful Healing Ward and Brain Wash totems immediately, dispel Hex, and let players afflicted by Delusions kill the shades only they can see. Players teleported into the pit must fight skeletons there.

    Notable loot
    • Jin'do's Judgement
    • Jin'do's Bag of Whammies
    • Jin'do's Hexxer
    • Jin'do's Evil Eye
  10. 10

    Hakkar

The Soulflayer, the blood god himself. His Blood Siphon drains the raid unless players carry Poisonous Blood from the Sons of Hakkar; he also spreads Corrupted Blood and mind-controls players. Each living priest gives him an extra ability, so kill the priests first. Drops the Heart of Hakkar.

    Notable loot
    • Heart of Hakkar
    • Zin'rokh, Destroyer of Worlds
    • Bloodcaller
    • Fang of the Faceless
    • Ancient Hakkari Manslayer
    • Gurubashi Dwarf Destroyer
    • Aegis of the Blood God
